Vacation Property Details
This bright and spacious apartment in Florence is located on the fourth and last floor of an historical building without lift and has a fantastic outdoor terrace(38mq) which offers views over the city of Florence and surrounding hills.
The apartment has no lift there are 86 steps to climb but you will find the stairs quite open and wide and therefore easy to climb and in any case the fantastic views from the terrace make the climb up to the apartment worth the while.
The apartment of 80sqm (800 sq ft) very nicely restored and refurnished. It has a master bedroom with a beautiful window overlooking the main monuments and a pull out single sofa pouf in the living room and may sleeps up to 3 people.
On the left of the entrance there is the small but well furnished kitchen with a view of the Duomo and a small laundry area with a washing machine.
On the right of the entrance there are steps that bring to the large living room with three windows that look upon the bell of Santo Spirito. Here the guests will find a couch and a dining room table that sits six people.
The bedroom has a beautiful view of the main monuments in Florence: Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. The bathroom with shower is modern and furnished with dark travertine.
From the living room there are stairs that lead to the panoramic terrace with a 360° view of the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, and Santa Spirito Church.
The Areahe apartment is located in the Oltrarno district in Florence’s historic city. The name “Oltrarno” literally means “beyond the Arno” and this district which stretches along the south bank of the river represents a different facet of Florence to that which is found near the Duomo.
The Oltrarno perhaps displays the true character of Florence and in general is slightly quieter, greener and more relaxed than the other districts of Florence. Indeed many tourists tend to choose the Oltrarno for this reason. Traditionally an artisans’ quarter, the Oltrarno still boasts today many lovely antique shops and artisans’ studios (particularly furniture and leather-workers) and Via Maggio remains the focus of Florence’s thriving antiques trade.
Over time the Oltrarno became a rather chic area and many aristocrats chose this neighbourhood to build their villas and palaces, the largest of these being the Pitti Palace, which became the home of the various Grand Dukes.
Extending up the hill from the Pitti Palace are the formal Boboli Gardens, an outdoor museum of garden sculpture that includes Roman antiquities as well as 16th and 17th century works. The Oltrarno is famous for its wine bars such as Olio & Convivium, authentic trattorias serving typical Tuscan cuisine, including Il Santo Bevitore, I 4 Leoni and Il Magazzino, not to mention the wonderful fresh produce market held every morning in Piazza Santo Spirito.
For those choosing an apartment in this area the Oltrarno quarter also offers a choice of grocery stores, patisserie, bakeries, gift shops and much more.
The terrace is equipped with dining table and chairs and a barbecue making it just perfect for “al fresco” dining or even just enjoying the sun and admiring the unique panorama. Furthermore, in the surrounding area you will find many typical local restaurants and shops where you can taste the local flavours and buy the local souvenirs.
Our comments: We recommend it to those who don't mind using the stairs and that want to be awarded by beautiful panoramic views of all of Florence.
